Where it comes from

Who designed the neutrois flag, and when, is not known. Its meanings are attributed to the community rather than to a designer. It is rarely seen in person.

Why green

The green is described as the complement of lavender, which is itself a mix of the pink and blue traditionally assigned to girls and boys. It stands for a gender outside that mix, as the green on the genderqueer flag does.

Neutrois describes a neutral or null gender, often with a wish for a more neutral body. It overlaps with agender and is one of the older words in the non-binary vocabulary.
