Verification

The most common complaint about trans dating apps is who gets in: fake profiles, bots, and the constant work of deciding whether a stranger is safe. Here, nobody sees anyone until a person has checked their account. That check is about whether an account belongs to a real adult who matches their photos. It never checks anyone's gender.

How it works

Verification is a selfie, looked at by a person rather than an algorithm. It is free. Until it is done, the grid stays closed: you cannot see anyone, and nobody can see you.

Before the selfie, you add a main photo where your face can be seen: a recent photo with only you in it, not a group photo, your face uncovered (no mask, no sunglasses over your eyes), and not blurred. We ask for it because people here see each other, and everyone who can see that photo is a verified member. Unlike the selfie, it stays on your profile.

Once the decision is made, the selfie is deleted from the database and from the disk. If nobody has looked at it within seven days, it deletes itself anyway.

A confirmed email address opens the door

An account also needs a confirmed email address before it opens, even once the selfie has been accepted. The confirmation link is sent when you sign up. If it is not in your inbox, look in your spam folder: the message comes from no-reply@t4tspace.com.

If your selfie is accepted before you have confirmed, you receive a fresh link, and your account opens the moment you click it. We ask for this because a check is only useful if we can tell you the result: an account we cannot reach is an account left waiting in silence.

If the photo does not work

It happens: too dark, a face half out of frame, or too far from the photos on the profile to tell. A refusal says something about the picture, not about you, and you can send another one whenever you like.

If your main photo does not show your face, that is not a refusal. You are told so, you add a photo where your face can be seen, and then you take a new selfie.

What it is not

It is not a test of whether you are trans enough. Nobody is qualified to run that test, and we do not ask for documents, diagnoses or anything about your body. The person who checks your account looks at whether the selfie is a real person, whether your main photo shows your face and the same person as the selfie, and reads what you wrote about why you are here. That comparison is about recognising the same person, never about how you look or whether you pass.

Why it will never be a paid tier

On most apps verification is a badge you buy, which means the people most able to pay look the most trustworthy. That is backwards. Here it is free and it stays free, because it is the way in rather than an extra.

What we store

The result of the check and the date it happened, and, if you withdraw your photo and choose to say why, the reason you picked. Not the image.
