What the colours mean

Pink Femininity.
White The absence of gender.
Purple A combination of masculinity and femininity.
Black All other genders.
Blue Masculinity.

Where it comes from

The genderfluid flag was designed by JJ Poole in 2012. Its five stripes are meant to cover every direction a genderfluid person's gender might move in, rather than a single point between two.

What genderfluid means

Genderfluid people experience their gender as changing over time, sometimes day to day, sometimes over months. It is one of the identities under the non-binary umbrella, and some genderfluid people also use other words, such as genderflux.

If someone you are talking to is genderfluid

Their pronouns may change, and some genderfluid people share which ones they are using on a given day. Asking once, simply, is better than guessing, and getting it wrong and correcting yourself is ordinary. What is not fine is treating a change as proof that they are confused.
