Questioning your gender

Not knowing yet, which is a legitimate place to be.

Questioning describes actively wondering about your gender without having settled on an answer. It isn't a waiting room before a real identity — it's a state plenty of people occupy for years, and some indefinitely.

There's no threshold to cross. You don't need lifelong certainty, a childhood memory, or distress severe enough to convince a stranger. Wondering seriously is enough to make the question yours.

Two things people find useful: gender euphoria is often a clearer signal than dysphoria, because it points somewhere rather than only away. And trying a name or a pronoun privately costs nothing and is reversible.

You're also allowed to arrive somewhere unexpected, including back where you started. That outcome isn't a failed experiment.
