Diamoric describes attraction that involves nonbinary people, used most often for attraction between two nonbinary people. It exists because every other orientation word describes attraction relative to a binary, and there was nothing for the case where neither party is on it.
It completes the small set with trixic and toric, all three coined in nonbinary communities during the 2010s for the same gap in the vocabulary.
Some people use it more broadly, for any attraction where a nonbinary person is involved. The narrower use, between nonbinary people, is the more common one.
Its usefulness is mostly that it allows a sentence to be written at all. Without it, two nonbinary people in a relationship are describable only by reaching for a word that assumes a binary neither of them is on.
Diamoric exists because the other words assume a binary
It gets dismissed as unnecessary specificity, on the assumption that an existing word would do.
Every existing orientation word is defined relative to men and women. For two nonbinary people there is no existing word that describes the relationship without importing something untrue about both of them.
