Where it comes from
The polysexual flag was made in 2012 by a Tumblr user who signed as Samlin, in a post on a blog about polysexuality. Samlin wrote that it was made to resemble the bisexual and pansexual flags, since all three sit under the multisexual umbrella.
What the colours mean
Samlin did not give the stripes meanings in that post. The meanings commonly given, pink for attraction to women, green for non-binary people and blue for men, come from the community. The green takes the place of the yellow on the pansexual flag.
Polysexual, not polyamorous
Polysexual is about which genders someone is attracted to: many, but not necessarily all. Polyamory is about having more than one relationship, and has its own flags.
