The best dating app for trans women: admission policy decides it

Most lists of dating apps for trans women compare feature grids. Feature grids are the least useful thing to compare, because the experience of two apps with identical features diverges completely depending on who is allowed through the door.

So this page asks one question of each app: how many of the people who can message you are there because you are a trans woman, rather than because they want to meet someone. Everything factual below comes from the app's own public listing, checked on 21 August 2026.

The problem the feature grids do not show

The complaint that repeats across reviews of every app in this category is the same one, and it is not about bugs or matching. It is the volume of messages from cis men whose interest begins and ends with the fact that you are trans. The word for that pattern is chaser, and its tell is a conversation that keeps returning to bodies, surgeries and firsts rather than to you.

No amount of moderation fixes this, because it is not a rules violation. Someone can be perfectly polite and still be there for a category rather than a person. The only lever that moves the number is admission: who the app lets in at all.

That is why an app that admits everyone and an app that admits only trans people produce completely different inboxes from the same feature list, and why we put admission first.

What each one admits, in its own words

Read across that table, three groups appear

Open to everyone. Taimi admits the whole LGBTQ+ spectrum including cis people, and nothing in the product is built to give you other trans people specifically. Butterfly admits any gender or sexuality on the stated premise that members are open to dating trans people, which is a different sentence from admitting only trans people.

Open to admirers by design. Translr, formerly Transdr, names admirers as part of its intended audience in its own listing. That is honest, and it means the pattern described above is not an accident there, it is the product. Fiorry admits trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people plus allies, which is narrower but still leaves the word ally doing a lot of work.

Not a trans dating app at all. HER is a queer women's app that includes trans and non-binary people. Many transfem people use it happily, and the reason it comes up in this search is that its admission policy solves the chaser problem by not admitting men. Judge it as a queer women's app, because that is what it is.

Verification is the second lever, and only if it is free

Photo or liveness verification does not stop someone being a chaser. What it does is stop the other failure mode, the account that is not a real person at all, and it makes a ban stick to something more durable than an email address.

The question worth asking of any app here is whether verification costs money. A verified badge sold as a premium feature protects the people who pay and tells you nothing about everyone else. Fiorry lists photo verification on every profile, which is the strongest version of this in the group.
