Stealth
Living without people knowing you're trans.
Going stealth means moving through daily life without your trans history being known. Colleagues, neighbours and new friends simply read you as your gender, and nothing corrects them.
It's a safety strategy as often as a preference. In places where being visibly trans carries real risk to housing, work or physical safety, stealth is the calculation that keeps someone intact.
It costs something. Stealth usually means distance from trans community, careful management of old documents and photographs, and living with the possibility of being outed by an administrative accident.
Neither stealth nor visibility is the braver choice. They're two responses to the same hostile conditions, and people move between them as circumstances change.
