Its characteristic form is erasure rather than alarm. Trans men are far less present in press coverage and political campaigns, and the frequent result is being treated as confused women who have been talked into something, rather than as men. Being overlooked and being condescended to are the two usual shapes.
It also shows up in healthcare, where trans men appear in reproductive medicine pathways built entirely around women, and in the assumption that transitioning was a flight from misogyny rather than a description of who someone is.
