Lithosexual
Attraction that does not want to be returned.
Lithosexual describes feeling sexual attraction while not wanting it reciprocated. The attraction is real, and the prospect of it being returned removes rather than increases the appeal. It is also called akoisexual.
People describe crushes that survive perfectly well at a distance and evaporate on discovering the feeling is mutual. The reason is not fear of rejection, which would predict the opposite.
The romantic counterpart is lithromantic, and it is the more commonly used of the two. Both sit on their respective spectrums, ace and aro.
Lithosexual is not fear of rejection
Fear of rejection predicts relief when a feeling turns out to be mutual. Lithosexual people describe the opposite, which is why the explanation does not fit.
It also is not about the chase. The attraction does not depend on pursuit; it depends on not being returned.
Saying it well
Say this
- I am lithosexual.
- I feel it and I do not want it returned.
- Lithromantic, for the romantic version.
- It ends when I find out it is mutual.
Not this
- So you like the chase
- That is fear of rejection
- So you only want what you cannot have
- That makes no sense
